I am 63 years old, divorced father of 4 grown up children and 3 granchildren. I have spent over 40 years in the legal profession as a Costs Lawyer- my bio is on my www.jimdiamond.com website.
I started combat sport in late 70’s in Liverpool and continued up to my 50th birthday when I competed in the World Vets karate Championship in Portugual in 2010.
My interest in sport Photography started after in mid- 80s. By the end of the decade I had covered boxing shows at venues such as Royal Albert Hall and Karate at the like of Coubertin Stadium in Paris.
By the end of 80s my legal career had also taken off and was I offered a life changing job at one of the City of London’s magic circle law firms. My “sliding door moment” was if i took the job the photograpghy would have to be put on a back burner.
I was probaly the only sports photographer at the time that looked at sport photography as “ART”. I created a series of Poster size prints exhibting my work. I took the law job and some 3 months later, I recived a letter from Vogue asking me to come in and show my work to their creative director, John Hind (the letter is on my IG page ) .
Move on 25 years, my kids are grown up and I decided to go back to Photography- so since then have covered boxing shows all over the UK.
My show will therefore contain combat sports using film in 80s to 2018+ modern electronic equipment and some skills from me, I hope!
