I’m a photographer who loves capturing the people and places I encounter, whether close to home or while travelling. My interest in photography began back in the 1990s as a student at art college studying Graphic Design. Over the years it’s become a way for me to tell stories about the world around me.
I live in Deptford, South East London, this exhibition is my first. The theme of emotional connection led me to consider turning my lens to a place I’ve called home for over 12 years.
I’ve focused particularly on Deptford High Street, which has seen so many changes over time. By photographing the shops old and new and the people who run or work in them, I’ve tried to capture the spirit of this community — part archive, part personal reflection on my own connection to the area and those who bring it to life.
