Starting from nature – trees, meadows, water, skies – I explore the boundary of abstraction to reveal the essence of the subject. The fundamentals of photography; composition, form, colour and contrast blend together. I aim to communicate the feeling more than the image.
I work outdoors using simple handheld cameras, mainly in the surrey hills where I am based. Inspired by dynamic and abstract artists like JMW Turner and Mark Rothko my work has become progressively more abstract over the past decade. To achieve this I employ a range of creative techniques including multiple exposures, intentional camera movement and blending layers and colours in post processing.
I can supply printed photographs in all sizes, unframed or framed.
