Yana Northen was born in a small Siberian town in Russia, later moving with her family to Vladimir and then Moscow. For the past 11 years, she has been residing in the UK countryside near Worcester. With a degree in Physical Culture and Education, Yana spent 15 years working as an athletics coach at an Olympic sports school in Russia. Throughout her career, photography has remained her enduring passion. She is known for capturing moments filled with warmth, joy, and beauty in everyday life, inviting viewers to see the world through a lens of hope and possibility. Yana’s work has been featured in Olympus Passion Photography magazine (November 2023) and the SVR Guidebook (2021). She is currently working on a project about integrating retirees into the workforce, which she plans to complete by the end of the year.

  2. What is the point of this project? Just random photos taken by a camera enthusiast at a train station. Isn’t the purpose of a project to create something that is both artistically beautiful and contemporary? Something that connects with us right now? There are wars everywhere in the world, people are dying from bombs and hunger. That is what is truly interesting, not old trains.

  3. Every photograph should tell a story, but I find none in these images. I would encourage the photographer to study Alexander Sweyer’s award-winning “Lime Street Station” to understand how to convey narrative through photography.
