I’m a photographer living in Essex, at the far end of the Thames Estuary, where the highly urban nature of my local area is at odds with wide open west country landscape of my childhood. This, I’m sure, contributes to my love of both the rigid lines of architecture and the softer more fluid shapes of nature.

Being a photographer with a portfolio made up of different styles, I find it difficult to categorise myself in any one genre but simply strive to capture the intrigue and beauty in the overlooked and the everyday. Often this will take the form of an ambiguous image, where the imagination has the freedom to garnish reality. My favourite images are frequently ones that make you wonder ‘what?’ rather than ‘where?’

The images being exhibited are from a new collection called Glimpse that will be published on my website to coincide with the London Photo Show exhibition.

Glimpse is a collection born from an idea whilst carrying out a simple DIY task and inspired by a love of both fantasy and science fiction. The images offer a glimpse that sparks the imagination, inviting the viewer to create their own narrative. Muted metallic tones, a wide aspect ratio and embracing the inherent grain, add to the cinematic quality that I was visualising.

Whilst editing the images I would find, aided by any number of movie soundtracks playing in my headphones, my imagination would be constructing worlds around and beyond these narrow perspectives of reality.

Shapes of light, a glimpse,
from reality we drift –
A story unfolds
